UK vegetable seed company opens Australian subsidiary in Melbourne

UK-based vegetable seed company Tozer Seeds has opened a new subsidiary in Australia as it looks to capitalise on markets across Asia and Australasia.

Tozer’s managing director Steve Winterbottom said the new company – called Tozer Seeds Pacific (TSP) – would be based in Melbourne but with a regional focus covering Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China and Japan.

“We are tremendously excited to be taking this step. TSP will help expose us to new markets and provide feedback to help steer our breeding,” said Winterbottom.

TSP becomes the company’s third regional subsidiary after Tozer Ibérica and Tozer Seeds America, and will be managed by Bruno Tigani, who has over 25 years of experience within the industry.

“It’s great to be finally and formally part of the Tozer family. Although I’m far away, it’s great to have the support from Tozer headquarters in the UK,” said Tigani.

In the Chinese market, Tigani will be assisted by Shanghai-based technical manager Dr Chenyi Yao, who has worked with Tozer in the UK as molecular biologist for nine years.

Tozer Seeds specialises in the breeding, production and distribution of vegetable seeds.
