Uber hikes chauffeur prices

ABN – Uber has hiked the fare prices of its Black chauffeur drive service by up to 25% in Melbourne.

A return journey between Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and the centre of the city will now cost up to A$282.

The services base fare has also increased by 25% to $10 and the per kilometre charge is up 20% to $2.40.

Uber said that the prices were increased to offer users a “higher vehicle standards and more cars on the road when you need them most.”

However, Uber’s low-cost option UberX has seen a 15% fare reduction.
