eBay Australia partners with Australian Made in local business drive

eBay Australia has partnered with not-for-profit company Australian Made in a move designed to support local businesses by providing an online market for domestic manufacturers to sell their products.

The partnership, Australian Made’s first with an online marketplace, comes as online shoppers demonstrate their desire to support local businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak, with eBay recording a 54% increase in items purchased from Australian sellers since mid-April.

Through the deal, eBay’s 11 million unique monthly visitors will have access to Australian Made accredited products on eBay’s marketplace. These include products from a range of categories including fashion, health and beauty, automotive, and home and garden.

“We are delighted to partner with eBay to provide this new channel to market for Australian makers,” said Australian Made chief executive Ben Lazzaro.

“Not only does Australian Made on eBay provide our homegrown businesses the opportunity to tap into a huge online audience nationwide, it also provides them the opportunity to export to other markets and grow their overseas customer base too.”

Meanwhile, eBay Australia managing director Tim MacKinnon said: “Our partnership with Australian Made also offers eBay’s Australian small and medium businesses the opportunity to be discovered by 174 million global buyers by displaying the renowned Australian Made logo – a mark of trust and quality – and helping to drive future sales.”
